BioCheri was born into a noble Mazoku family and raised in the provence of Spitzberg, along with her older brother, Stoffel, and their childhood friend, Raven. Because she wasn't the heir, Cheri was allowed to run wild and was rather spoiled and selfish as a child, which often led to arguments with her older brother over who Raven 'belonged' to more. It was quite a surprise to everyone when the spirit of the first Maou chose Cheri rather than Stoffel to become the ruler over Shin Makoku, while she was still rather young by Mazoku standards. It was then that the young woman asked her first love, Raven, to stay loyal to her brother no matter what so that her older brother wouldn't get lonely without her around.
Over the centuries she had three children from different fathers, Gwendal, Conrad, and Wolfram. While Gwendal and Wolfram were both full Mazoku, her middle son Conrad was half human and thus unable to use maryoku, and was considered somewhat of a scandal. Cheri loved each of her sons completely, and tried to prevent Conrad from being subjected to the prejudice against humans that had spread throughout Shin Makoku, but had mixed success, especially when her youngest son Wolfram refused to acknowledge Conrad as any sort of relation after learning of Conrad's mixed heritage.
During most of her time as Maou, the duties and responsibilities Cheri was supposed to carry out started putting too much strain on her, since she'd never been taught how to deal with diplomacy or leadership when dealing with other cultures, and turned to her older brother constantly for advice, until eventually Cheri simply went by what he decided rather than relying on herself to make hard choices.
Relationships with human countries slowly crumbled into full war and the prejudice against humans and half-humans grew, until the nobles demanded that the half-humans living in Shin Makoku be exiled for fear of treason. Conrad then announced that he would lead a growing band of mixed Mazoku into battle to prove their loyalty. Cheri had no choice other than to allow her beloved son head into a doomed battle that only Conrad and one other survived. At the same time a dear friend of Cheri's and the one person Conrad trusted, Suzanna Julia, died after over-exerting her healing maryoku.
It was shortly after that event that Cheri made up her mind to renounce the title of Maou for the good of all, and after creating a shaky agreement with the human countries to hold a truce she did just that. To further distance herself from the position she once held Cheri started to travel almost non-stop around the world, while trying to regain her self-confidence and find someone to build a new relationship with.
Twenty years later Cheri learned that the new Maou chosen to rule had finally arrived, and arranged a meeting and inadvertently caused an argument that ended up with her youngest son Wolfram becoming Yuuri's fiance. Though the young Mazoku was certainly unhappy at first it soon became evident that Wolfram needed Yuuri just as much as the young Maou needed Wolfram's protection and advice. With that settled, Cheri started her travels once more, though every so often she would cross paths with her sons as they guided and protected Yuuri so that the mistakes she had made in the past would not be repeated.
